Where and when do teams practice?
Practice schedules are determined just prior to the start of each season. We take into account each coach's requests for days and times and put together a club-wide training calendar utilizing the fields we have been allocated by the City, County and League. The fields we normally use for practices during the Fall and Spring seasons are the Moana Soccer Fields (Reno), South Valleys Regional Park (Reno), Echo Loder School (Reno) and Golden Eagle Regional Park (Sparks). We use SWIFT Sportsdome South Meadows (Reno) for indoor practices during the winter as well as Golden Eagle Regional Park (Sparks) for winter outdoor practices when required. All our teams practice at least twice a week, some higher level teams choose to practice three times per week.
What leagues do your teams play in?
We have teams that play in NorCal's ECNL-RL, NPL and Premier League. These leagues require travel to Sacramento and beyond for Away games.
We have teams that play in GBYSL Select, a local competitive league that serves the Reno-Tahoe region. Travel to Carson City, South Tahoe and Truckee is required for Away games in GBYSL Select league.
We also have some teams that play in GBYSL Recreational League, where all games are based in Reno.
Are your teams set up by zip code or neighborhood?
No, unlike recreational teams our Club teams are made up of players from all over Reno-Sparks, with some joining us from South Tahoe, Carson City, Truckee and Fernley. Players are selected and invited to join teams based on their level of play. With our tiered team structure, we have an appropriate level team for almost all players.
Is the Club year round? Can my player join for just the Fall season?
We are a year round program. Our soccer year runs from August through June each year. Our Open Tryouts in May are when we create teams for the following soccer year.
We do not offer Fall-Only registrations. The commitment to the Club and team is for the full year.
We do offer mid-year registrations for Winter/Spring or Spring Only when and if we have teams with open roster spots.
What are the fees?
Our basic fees are posted at Club Costs & Fees. Team Registration Fees vary depending on the age of the team, costs of that team's league, number and costs of the tournaments, licensing of the coaching staff and more. Other items that are not included in a standard Club and Team Registration may be: indoor leagues, performance packages (examples: video services, analytics packages, performance tracking, speed and strength training, etc) and club uniforms.
If my player makes a team at Open Tryouts, when does the season start?
Open Tryouts in May are for the following soccer year. Our coaches are encouraged to give teams some time off during the summer, however each coach will set the summer schedule based on their summer availability and team plans for any summer tournaments. Most teams and leagues begin in August.
What is an Academy team?
Our Academy teams are for players identified as having potential and a passion for the game, but not quite ready for our competitive league teams (Silver, Gold and Premier). The focus is on developing technical abilities, learning the game and having fun. League games are in GBYSL. As players develop, the coaching staff in the age group with the coaching directors, will decide if guest play opportunities or attending practice sessions with the competitive teams are appropriate.
