Reno Apex Tryouts

Our open tryout window for all age groups is in May every year. During this period players from every club and league may tryout without notifying or getting permission from their current coach or club.

2026 Tryouts

Our main tryouts were held May 11th through May 20th, following our new 2026/2027 Age Group Formats. The open tryout window remains open through May 31st, 2026. If you missed our open tryouts, we encourage you to sign up at the link below. Our coaches are still monitoring tryout signups and will reach out for individual tryout opportunities if open roster spots remain.

Tryout FAQs

How do I know which age group my player is in?

U4, U10, etc. refer to "under age 4," "under age 10," and so on. Our tryout signup form will automatically determine the correct age group for your player for the upcoming year. Age groups are changing for the upcoming season, so visit our 2026/2027 Age Group page for all the information.

My player usually plays a year up. Can they tryout in an older age group?

All players should attend the tryout in their age group as determined by their birthdate. Age Groups are listed here. Players that choose to tryout in an older age group may do so IF they also attended their birthdate age group tryout. If a player is not in attendance for their birthdate age group, it is likely they will not be considered for the top level teams for that age.

At tryouts, we will be inviting players to register with the goal of making the strongest teams in each age group, and this is especially true for ECNL RL and N1 teams. We highly recommend attending the age group of your player's birthdate even if your player is used to playing with older players or is in a grade above many of the players in their age group. Invitations for players to register on teams in older age groups will be an exception, require discussion between coaches and directors, and ultimately require approval by a coaching director after reviewing the player's evaluations or evaluating the player themselves.

What are the fees?

There is no fee for Tryouts. Our basic registration fees are posted at Club Costs & Fees. Team Registration Fees vary depending on the age of the team, costs of that team's league, number and costs of tournaments, licensing of the coaching staff, and more. Other items not included in a standard Club and Team Registration may include: indoor leagues, performance packages (e.g. video services, analytics packages, performance tracking, speed and strength training) and club uniforms.

My player cannot attend the scheduled tryout. Are there make-up dates or additional tryouts?

We encourage every player to adjust their schedule so they may attend the scheduled tryout. We will be making selections for teams based on that tryout and invitations to join a roster will go out shortly afterwards. Players with legitimate and unavoidable conflicts may be offered additional tryouts that are by invitation only. Those players must sign up for tryouts and may send an email reply to the sign-up confirmation starting no earlier than one week prior to the tryout. We make no guarantee that a player will get invited to an additional tryout. Players should make every attempt to attend the scheduled tryout time and date.
